Derby County Takeover - An Example of what can happen.
September 2005
- Jeremy Keith interviewed on Radio Derby by Andy Whittaker
who exposes him as being 'economical with the truth'
over the reasons for the sale of Rasiak.
RamsTrust representatives inform Jeremy
Keith that the only way forward they can see for the
club is if he and his colleagues leave.
AT LAST - the penny starts to drop
with many Rams fans...
Friday 10th February 2006 - A consortium
led by Peter Gadsby announces intentions to takeover
at Derby County. An alternative offer from London-based
SISU is also revealed.
Saturday 29th April 2006 - At 2:30am
in the morning, a consortium led by Peter Gadsby completes
a takeover of Derby County Football Club. The tenure
of the "Three Amigos" is over and the new
Board are unveiled as Peter Gadsby, John Kirkland OBE,
Mel Morris, Peter Marples, Jill Marples, Don Amott and
Mike Horton. The weekend sees the Rams lose 2-0 to Sheffield
Wednesday, but scenes of celebration demonstrate both
relief and enthusiasm as the Rams get the local ownership,
which so many fans wanted. The Bank Holiday is complete
with a legends' match, which sees such players as Igor
Stimac, Peter Shilton and Kevin Hector, back in the
Rams' shirt.
The debt was revealed to be £52
million pounds.
After 30 months of decline and mismanagement
with being the plaything of a self styled 'business
doctor' and his pals our club is finally unfettered
from the shackles of the ABC Corporation and returned
to local ownership.
After a long, hard and close run battle,
fan power and a determined group of local business people
have won the day.
